Seasons Greetings and Questionable Decorations

Let me go trough my list:

- Cold weather, check
- Radio stations broadcasting holiday music 24/7, check
- Glowing trees, check
- 25% to 75% discounts in every store, check
- Mandatory attendance to office parties, check

It is official, xmas is getting close and with it favorite seasonal hobby, the hunt for questionable decorations.

I am pretty sure you have seen them; the picture of Santa in shorts laying at the beach while the rein deers play beach volleyball and build sandcastles, or how about santa's sledge being pulled by a flock of pink flamingos.

I will be posting some prime examples of these artifacts and my theories about their origin, evolution and how they became accepted into or society.

All Hail Netflix for the Wii

We have a new obsession and its name is Netflix for the Wii.

In the beginning I was skeptical about how reliable this service would be. I heard about the console’s graphic processing power, or lack thereof, and the fact that we have our console connected to the Internet via WiFi, but soon I was proved wrong and now we are hooked to it.

A couple of weekends ago I got a terrible headache and spent all day Sunday curled on the couch watching all 26 episodes of Claymore. During the whole day, the only problem that I experienced was on three occasions the system paused the streaming for about 5 seconds to re-buffer the video, that's all.

Don’t be discouraged by the limited amount of movies and categories that you will see the first time you login. After selecting a couple of movies or TV shows, the system will provide you with a plethora of suggestions based on the things that you have previously watched or have in queue to watch. Remember searching for a movie or TV series is always an option.

Granted, there are some nights when the system is running slow and the buffering window appears more times than desired, but almost every night Kim and I jump into the Wii to watch movies or episodes of series that we missed, instead of renting them from the AT&T system.

What is your current form of media entertainment?

Thank goodness for digital photography

In the Tentacle Couple team Kim is in charge of taking pictures, and for the longest time she was resistant to make the switch from her trusty 35mm film camera to the dark side of digital photography.

Once I got her the Canon Rebel XT digital camera she could not imagine going back to buying rolls of film, taking them to Costco to have them developed and then see how the pictures came out.

All I have to say is thank you technology.

I just finished going over all the pictures that she had taken for the last 4 years or so, that includes conventions like Anime Expo, Comic Con, and Dragon Con; events like New Years Celebration at Little Tokyo and China Town; and of course overseas travels to Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.

All and all we are talking about 6,500 pictures. That's a lot of shoe boxes.

Go to our photo album at tentaclecouple.com/photo/tc_photos ; once there, you can search for key words describing these pictures by clicking on the magnifying glass icon located in the lower left corner of the screen.

Try: 'Star Wars', 'Samurai', 'Adam Savage' or 'Parade' and you will see all the pictures related to these key words.

I hope you have fun looking at these pictures as much as we did taking them.
