Two groups of warriors, one of standing infantry and the other of mounted cavalry soldiers, were excavated from the tomb compound of the founder of the Han Dynasty, Liu Bang, know after his dead as Gaozu or Gaodi. The similarities between the Quin terra cotta army and this group as striking: the terra cotta figures assembled as armies in military formation, including cavalry and infantry, suggest both preparation for war and a funeral procession.
