Studio Ghibli Destroys Tokyo in its First Live Action Short

Try to follow me here:

In 1984 Studio Ghibli released "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind". In the final battle scene, the last God Warrior was resurrected by one of the warmongering kingdoms and self destructed; a recent dropout from Osaka University of the Arts called Hideaki Anno was in charge of animating the 90 second scene depicting the God Warrior’s disintegration.

In 1995 Anno wrote and directed an anime TV series called Evangelion which has been held as one of the most successful and influential franchises of all times.

In 2012, at Tokyo’s Museum of Contemporary Art, an exhibition titled "Hideaki Anno’s Special Effects Museum" showed a short film called Kyōshinhei Tokyo ni Arawaru [lit. Giant God Warrior Appears In Tokyo]

This short was requested by Anno, directed by Higuchi Shinji ( a key artist for the Evangelion series) and produced by Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli.

Don't you love when everything falls into place.
